It’s been a little minute but…. we’re back.

chalkboard lettering of the word Joy as a Christmas graphic art piece

Merry Christmas friends!

I promised myself I would have a brand new graphic for one of my favorite days of the year, but turns out the season is pretty chaotic. 🤷‍♂️

In any case, this is a time of great joy. Not because there isn’t darkness, but because the light overcomes the dark.

I don’t know about you, but my joy and identity rest in the person of Jesus. I’m far from perfect, but Christmas is a reminder that though broken, there is hope for the world and us who live in it.

“For God so loved the world that he sent His only begotten son. That whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.”
- John 3:16

No matter what your story is, what you have done, what has happened to you, what your hurts are, I invite you this day to take heart. Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He longs to lift your burdens, and let’s be honest, there are so many troubles we all strain under.

Many have said that Jesus was born to die, but this isn’t entirely true. He truly lived and He lived perfectly, died in our place, and rose again to life. When we place trust in Him, He takes our sin and brokenness and transforms us for relationship with Him.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”
- Luke 4:18

To know God and be fully known. To never truly be alone again. This is what Christmas has to offer, and for me, it is no small Joy.

Peace. ✌️

On a separate note…

I’ve been getting back into digital illustration and with this, increasing the offerings in my shop. I hope to soon have some tools and freebies in addition to the merch…

but for now, check out some recent additions below!

Postscript: My primary flow state creatively tends to occur while digging deep into catchy music and really soaking in all the sounds. Among the 74,000 minutes logged this year on my Spotify (I know, I have a problem) I continually found myself jamming to some pretty intense EDM.

The title of this post comes from one particular earworm that I’ll just leave here…
